This Bible object lesson will help kids see themselves as planted and sustained by God, and for this one you will need the following:
- 🌲 A picture of the cedars of Lebanon (search Google Images)
🙋 Ask the following questions to spark discussion:
- What’s in this picture? These trees are extra special — the Bible talks about them!
- Ask a child to read Psalm 104:16 — God planted these trees, not man.
- Have you ever thought Christians are a lot like trees?

Walk through these three points together:
1️⃣ God plants us, not people. Just like the cedars, when you become a Christian, God plants new life in you — no person can do that.
2️⃣ We grow by trusting Him. Cedars grow out of rock and depend on God for water. Trust God the same way for everything you need.
3️⃣ Jesus is our “sap.” Sap keeps a tree alive and green even in winter. Jesus is the life inside you that keeps you strong.
Suggestions for Success:
- Bring an actual small pine or cedar branch if you can find one — the sap is a great hands-on touch.
- Tie Point 2 back to a specific need kids can pray about together.
- This lesson pairs naturally with any “growth in faith” themed lesson later in the year.
