by | Jan 25, 2019 | The Blog

Illustration of Jesus healing ten lepers, for a preschool scripture activity.Play this “Jesus Heals 10 Lepers” preschool game to help them learn about the importance of saying, “Thank you,” to God and about the power of Jesus to heal us according to His will.

This “Jesus Heals 10 Lepers” preschool game will delight your children as they get to pretend to be one of the 10 lepers that Jesus healed. This Bible preschool game will teach them that Jesus has the power to heal them when they are sick. It will also teach them to give thanks to God when He blesses them.

I love the story of when Jesus healed the 10 lepers. It comes fromLuke 17:11-19. It is a story that proclaims God’s power over sickness as well as a story of thanksgiving.

I have actually written a Bible story song for this story that I call “10 Sick Men.”

Take a look at a sample video of the song and moves.

Click HERE to get a digital copy of this song and the moves for only $2.49.

This song would pair nicely with the “Jesus Heals 10 Lepers” preschool game I am teaching you how to play.

What to prepare for the”Jesus Heals 10 Lepers” Preschool Game:

First, you will need to draw 10 faces on paper plates – one face per plate. One side should show the man sad and sick. The other side should show the man happy and healed. I suggest that you give a different color Bible hat to each man. This will be useful in the playing of the game as you will read below.

For a limited time, I am giving you the 10 faces I created down below. Hurry and download them before I make them into a product for sale.

Next, attach a tongue depressor to the paper plate so that the child can hold his plate over his face pretending like he is one of the men from the story.

Lastly, place pieces of paper that represent each of the colors of the Bible hats for the men in a bag or basket.

How to play the”Jesus Heals 10 Lepers” Preschool Game:

Hand out a face to each child in your room. If you have less than 10 kids in your class, just hand out as many faces as you can and set the other faces aside to show later.

Have the children look at the face of the man that was given them. Point out the 2 sides of the face – the sick and sad side and the happy and healed side.

Share the story of the when Jesus healed the 10 lepers from a short retelling that could be found in a preschool Bible. Encourage the children to act out the story as you tell it by flipping their faces to the sick side before Jesus heals them and then flipping them around after Jesus heals them. If your class is less than 10, show them the remaining faces so that the understand there were a total of 10 men.

Now, gather the children together and say the following poem:

There were 10 sick men

And Jesus healed each one

But only one came back and said,

“Thank you!” to God’s Son

After the poem, say, “Which one said, Thank you?”

Take the bag with the colors representing the Bible hats and pull out a color. Whoever has the matching Bible hat should come forward and say, “Thank you, Jesus!”

After that child has had his turn, let him go back and join the rest of the kids.

Pick another color out of the bag and repeat the form of play. Do this until all the children have had the chance to say, “Thank you!”

Note: If your class is less than 10, only put colors in the bag that correlate to the children who are holding those men with the matching Bible hats.

Have fun!
