1-2-3 Creation – A Fun Bible Game Teaching the 7 Days | The Scripture Lady

by | Dec 30, 2009 | Bible Games, The Blog

Every child should know the seven days of Creation, and what better way to help them remember than with a game that gets them up, moving, and laughing? “1-2-3 Creation!” combines a favorite kids’ pastime — the classic freeze game — with the true story of how God made our world.

Bible games for kids will help your class learn God’s wonderful stories in a fun way, and for this one you will need the following:

  • A quick review of Genesis 1–2, broken into simple, kid-friendly statements for each day

  • Slips of paper numbered 1 through 7
  • A bucket or bag to hold the numbers
  • Open space for kids to walk forward

Before you play, give your kids an easy, memorable summary of each day of Creation:

  • Day 1 — God created light (Genesis 1:3)
  • Day 2 — God separated the waters from the sky (Genesis 1:6-8)
  • Day 3 — God created land and plants (Genesis 1:11-13)
  • Day 4 — God created the sun, moon, and stars (Genesis 1:14-19)
  • Day 5 — God created fish and birds (Genesis 1:20-22)
  • Day 6 — God created land animals and man (Genesis 1:24-31)
  • Day 7 — God rested (Genesis 2:2)

Now write the numbers 1 through 7 on slips of paper and place them in a bucket. Pick one child to be “It.” The rest of the class lines up at a starting line on the other side of the room.

The child who’s “It” draws a number from the bucket, making sure only they can see it. They then count off that number, followed by the word “Creation!” So if they draw a 5, they’ll call out, “1-2-3-4-5…Creation!”

Everyone else walks forward on each number, then freezes the instant “Creation!” is called. Whoever freezes fastest gets to be the next “It” — but only if they can correctly answer what God made on that day. Since the number 5 was called, that child would need to say, “On Day 5, God created fish and birds!”

Keep playing until every child has had a turn.
