Have you ever gotten a piece of gum stuck on the bottom of your shoe — or worse, in your hair? “Don’t Get Stuck” takes that sticky-gum feeling and turns it into a fun way to review any Bible verse with your elementary kids — no disaster required.

This Bible memory verse game will help your kids hide God’s Word in their hearts, and for this one you will need the following:

• A Bible verse you’ve worked on before and want to review — we’ll use Romans 3:23: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (11 words)
• 14 paper lunch bags, numbered 1–14 on the outside
• Index cards with one word of the verse written on each, placed inside 11 of the bags, in random order
• ABC (already been chewed) gum in used wrappers, placed inside the remaining 3 bags
• A board or table to display revealed words

How to play:

Divide your class into two teams. The first team picks a number and opens that bag. If it holds a verse word, display it on the board and give the team 10 seconds to guess the verse. If they don’t guess correctly, play passes to the next team, who picks a new number. If a team picks a bag with ABC gum inside, they lose their turn. The first team to correctly guess the full verse wins — and every winner gets a piece of NBC (not been chewed) gum!

Suggestions for Success:

1. Adjust your bag count to match the word count of whatever verse you’re reviewing.
2. Reuse the bags for future verses — just swap out the index cards.
3. For larger classes, add a third team and a few extra bags to keep everyone engaged.
