Say more and do more at your Christian school and church to bring about the life-changing results that God wants in the lives of those you minister to.
Can you say more and do more at your Christian school and church to really make a difference? Or have you allowed a complacency to creep in that ignores the great privilege and honor bestowed upon you to share the love and truths of Jesus? Today, I want to share a story where I am very afraid that complacency has become the norm.
As The Scripture Lady, I am always trying to find new schools and churches with which to share my ministry. One day recently, I was talking to a director of a Christian preschool. She was kind and gave me the opportunity to tell her what I do. She listened attentively and then told me that the church’s pastor is the one who presents their chapels to the children. She then made a statement that made me very sad. She said, “The deepest we really go in sharing our faith is by saying, ‘Jesus loves you.'”
On the surface, there is certainly nothing wrong with saying, “Jesus loves you.” But as a Christian school, shouldn’t they being saying more? Or even doing more? – to share their faith with their children and the children’s parents?
In my opinion, if you teach in a Christian school or church, you should be saying more and doing more that goes beyond just sharing that, “Jesus loves you.”
Let’s break this down a little further:
Say More! and do more at your Christian school and church
If you teach in a Christian school or church, you should be taking FULL advantage of sharing your faith through the words you say to the children and their families.
Does everyone who steps through your doors know without a doubt that your church or school exists for the glory of God by what you say? Are you proclaiming the Bible as God’s inerrant and holy Word? Are you lifting up the name of Jesus in praise and honor throughout the day? Are you talking about your faith in every area of your curriculum? Or do you shy away from sharing your faith in the midst of a culture that is pressing hard against Christianity and all that it stands for?
You should never let the culture dictate what you say. Instead, let the Holy Spirit dictate what you say.
God has chosen you to pour His love into the lives of the children you minister to through your words. You are surrounded by children and families who desperately need the truth of Jesus in their lives. What a privilege and honor it is to live in a country or place where you are able to proclaim the name of Jesus and His Word with boldness and clarity so that lives might by changed for the glory of God.
Colossians 4:6: Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
Say more and Do More! at your Christian school and church
If you teach in a Christian school or church, you should be taking FULL advantage of sharing your faith through what you do for the children and their families.
Over the past two decades of my ministry, I have witnessed a very sad decline in both churches and schools. Very little effort is put into their time of teaching about Jesus and the Bible. In many schools, chapel times have become minimal and meaningless as the same songs and the same Bible stories are shared in the same way week after week. In Sunday Schools and children’s ministries, the word “easy” has become the motto. Very little time is put into the teaching of the Bible in creative ways. Very little time is spent in preparation. Very little time is given to making one hour in a week the best hour that it could possibly be.
Now, if you are reading this and you are doing your best to share Jesus with the kids you minister to, then that is great! You are doing your job that God has called you to. Well done! But if you are reading this, and there a pangs of conviction from the Holy Spirit to do more in your ministry, then ask the Lord to help you do more.
Colossians 3:17: And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
