Jesus is the Light of the World: A NEW Scripture Lady Program for Preschoolers will delight your little ones when learning that Jesus is the true light full of goodness and truth.
Jesus is the Light of the World is my newest Bible program for preschoolers that will teach them that Jesus is the light of the world and that He wants them to shine their light for all to see, too!
Here is a quick outline of “Jesus is the Light of the World” Make sure to read through the whole synopsis and you will be able to download some free materials for the next 3 days!
Opening Song: You are My Lamp, O Lord based on Psalm 18:28
There are a TON of Bible verses all about the light of God! Psalm 18:28 is one of my favorites. I will open up this program with a sweet song that will teach this verse along with some colors that your preschoolers are learning.
Here are the lyrics to the song:
Red, yellow, blue, green. These are the colors we get to see.
Let’s find red, a color so bright
The Lord is our lamp and He’s our light!
You are my lamp, O Lord! You shine so bright.
The Lord turns my darkness into light
You are my lamp, O Lord! You teach what’s right.
The Lord turns my darkness into light
You are my lamp, O Lord! You show me the way.
You light the path for me to take day by day
You are my lamp, O Lord! You shine so bright.
The Lord turns my darkness into light
Scripture Granny Sings: This Little Light of Mine
If I am going to share a program about the light of Jesus, then I HAVE to include the wonderful old classic of This Little Light of Mine. But this time, my grandma, Scripture Granny, is going to put her own spin on it.
To give you a little taste, here’s a sample of me sharing the moves:
Bible Game: The Good Deeds Bag Flip and Find
Matthew 5:16 is a great Bible verse about shining our light for Jesus. It says this:
“…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
What are some good deeds that preschoolers can do and shine their lights for Jesus? They will learn that they can give someone a flower, make someone some cookies, write a letter to Grandma, pray for someone who is sick, do a chore or collect money for a missionary.
While learning about these good deeds, we will play a game using my “Flip and Find” method. Not familiar with this form of sharing a Bible lesson? Then take a look at this sample tutorial for this method:
Jack and Jill Sing Give Me Oil in My Lamp
Here’s another oldy-but-goody! Give Me Oil in My Lamp has been around for a long time, but my friends, Jack and Jill are ready to share it with your children so that it becomes one of their favorites.
Bible Object Lesson with a Surprising Twist: Don’t Hide Your Light, Let it Shine!
If you know me, you know I love sharing creative Bible object lessons. This is a brand new one that I am eager to share from MagicTricks.com. It will teach your preschoolers that God wants their lights to shine for Jesus for all to see and that Jesus is the light of the world.
Scruffy Makes Sure His Light is Shining!
Scruffy is at it again! This time Scruffy has decorated his doghouse with LOTS of lights. He wants to make sure that all his neighbors will see his house and hopefully leave him a bone in his bowl on October 31st. Scruffy may know the power of light to draw people to his house, but Scruffy will learn that he needs to have the light of Jesus inside his heart to draw people to God.
Closing Song: Jesus is the Light of the World
Jesus truly is the light of the world and your preschoolers will get to sing along to this brand new song by The Scripture Lady to help celebrate this truth!

I remember singing this during Backyard Bible Club. The Sing Hosanna part was the best! Glad you reminded me of this great classic song to sing in Sunday School.
LOVE the flip and find way of telling the story of the Lord’s Prayer!!!
I learned “Give Me Oil in My Lamp” at Church Camp many years ago.
Im sure I learned this song probably at VBS when I was a child. But I definitely remember singing it at 4-H camp when I was a child, many moons ago.
