“I Have Decided to Follow Jesus” is one of my all time favorite hymns. It’s a great hymn to share with your kids when teaching them the gospel. In fact, in this article I want to explain the main points of the gospel of Jesus Christ using my newest creations, “The Gospel Kids.” I actually debuted “The Gospel Kids” in one of my most recent articles called How to Help Kids During Fearful Times in Our World.

My friend is taking these “kids” and creating life-size versions of them that I will use in my video recordings. I think they are going to really add to the backgrounds of both my LIVE and ONLINE programs.

But for today, I would like to have “The Gospel Kids” share the main points of the gospel with the colors of clothing each is wearing. Yep, you might have guessed where I am going with this if you are at all familiar with “The Wordless Book” colors. Each of “The Gospel Kids” will wear a color of the Wordless book that showcases a truth of the gospel.

Here is an explanation of the 5 main points of the gospel using the “Wordless Book” colors:

Yellow – Reminds us of God’s love and how He has prepared a special place for each one of His children in Heaven where we will be a part of His Forever Family. (John 3:16)

Dark – Reminds us of the sin in our lives. Sin is anything we think, say or do that displeases God. God cannot allow sin into heaven. Sin must be punished and the punishment for sin is to be separated from God forever. But God has a wonderful plan so that we won’t have to be punished for our sin. (Romans 3:23 and 13:12)

Red – Reminds us of the blood that Jesus shed on the cross to take the punishment for our sins. His blood is the only thing that can cleanse us of our sins. (I Corinthians 15:3-4 and Hebrews 10:22)

Clean – Reminds us that we can have a clean heart because of the price that Jesus paid for our sins on the cross. If you admit that you are a sinner and believe in your heart that Christ died for your sins and call on Him to forgive you of your sins, you will be saved. (John 1:12)

Green – Reminds us of things that grow. As a child of God, we too can grow. We can grow in prayer, in the reading of His Word, in fellowship with other believers, and by telling others about God’s wonderful Gospel story. (II Peter 3:18)

Today, I am giving you 5 posters. Each poster will have one of “The Gospel Kids” wearing one of the following colors: yellow, dark, red, clean and green.

I will also give you poster of the kids with clothes that can be colored by your own kids.

You can use these posters to share the points of the gospel by hanging them in your classroom or home. And don’t forget, try sharing the video of Jack and Jill sing I Have Decided to Follow Jesus along with “The Gospel Kids” posters. The main thing is “Have fun while sharing Jesus!”
