Sing these 5 Bible songs about prayer to the children who are a part of your life to help them learn the importance of prayer to God.
Learning these 5 Bible songs about prayer will teach your kids that God wants them to pray to Him. Simply put, prayer is talking and listening to God.
When teaching about prayer to kids, I often use the following dialogue:
Raise your hand if you have at least one friend in this great big world of ours. (Wait for responses.) Awesome! I am glad you have a friend. Now raise your hand if you talk to that friend. (Wait for responses.) Good. Now raise your hand if you listen to that friend. (Wait for responses.) Of course you talk and listen to your friend. That’s what friends do. You wouldn’t have much of a friendship without talking and listening to each other!
Never forget that God wants to be your friend. Jesus wants to be your very BEST friend. And if you are going to be friends with Jesus, you will need to spend time talking to Him and listening to Him. That is prayer – talking and listening to God.
The Bible has a LOT to say about prayer and in this article I am going to give you 5 Bible songs about prayer that you can sing along with your kids to help them grow in their friendship with God.
Rebus Puzzles
In addition to the 5 Bible songs about prayer, I am giving you 2 rebus puzzles for the two Bible verses of 1 John 1:9 and Psalm 55:17. Just scroll past the songs to get to the puzzles which you will be able to download for free.
Bible Song #1:
If We Confess – This Bible song is based on 1 John 1:9, which says: If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I LOVE this Bible verse. My husband lovingly calls it the “Christian’s Bar of Soap.” When you and I sin, we know that we can run to God and confess our sin and God will cleanse us from that sin because of His mercy and forgiveness.
Confession is a form of prayer. Your children need to learn that God is always ready and willing to forgive them of the wrong things they do. If they have a relationships with Jesus, they can pray to Him at anytime and confess anything they have done wrong. God will hear them and forgive them.

Bible Song #2:
The Lord’s Prayer – Many of us know “The Lord’s Prayer.” It is a prayer that Jesus taught His disciples. It is a prayer that gives us a template of how to pray and what to pray for.
My version of this song has a bit of an African feel to it. It is also and echo song, which kids often like. So, grab your kids and maybe even a drum or two and sing and learn our wonderful Lord’s prayer!

Bible Song #3:
Morning, Noon and Night – This song about prayer is based on Psalm 55:17, which says: I will pray morning, noon, and night, pleading aloud with God; and he will hear and answer. Do your children know that they can pray to God at anytime of the day or night. The Bible says that Jesus is always with them. God loves it when His children cry out to Him for help. Unlike you and me, God is always just a prayer away ready and willing to answer our prayers.

Bible Song #4:
Daniel Prayed and Prayed – Perhaps one of the greatest stories in the Bible about prayer is the story of Daniel in the lions’ den. Daniel had learned the necessity and power of prayer as a young boy when he was carried away from his home in Israel to Babylon. Daniel knew his God would take care of him and so he prayed. All of his life he prayed. And he didn’t stop when things got difficult – like being in a lions’ den!
This fun song with a playful rap beat will teach your kids about Daniel’s faith in his great big God to whom he prayed and prayed.

Bible Song #5:
Sing Like David – This traditional song has been around for many decades. The author is unknown, but I think we can see his or her heart for singing and praying to God through the moving of the Holy Spirit. I love singing this song with kids. It is joyful and will remind them that they, too, can sing and dance and pray unto the Lord just like King David did long ago.
