“Why I Teach the Bible to Kids” is a poem that shares the heart of my ministry. I pray that it will bless you and inspire you to continue to teach the Bible to your children.
“Why I Teach the Bible to Kids” is a poem that conveys why I work so hard at the ministry God has called me to over two decades ago. My love for God’s Word, the Bible, is profound. I truly don’t believe I could live without having His Word hidden in my heart. I believe the words of the Bible can change every person’s life who seeks to know God and a relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Today, I want to give you a copy of this poem. The words to the poem are below. I have also provided a 3-page poster that you might like to have of the poem. You might want to share this with someone you know who teaches children.
Biblical literacy, is a foundational purpose for my ministry. And today, I also want to encourage you to take a look at a sample of one of my biblical literacy songs called “Won’t You Tell Me Now?” It’s a song game that you can sing and play with your kids to help them learn about important characters in the Bible.
Take a look at this sample video of the song;

Word to the Poem: Why I Teach the Bible to Kids
It has been my honor to teach the Bible to kids
For many, many years
I’ve watched children’s lives change
Bringing me many joyful tears
But what I do takes a lot of hard work
Day in and day out
So why is it so important
That I tell kids what the Bible is all about?
Here is my answer:
I want kids to know that God made the world
In just 7 days
From His first words, “Let there be Light!”
Creation declares God’s majestic ways
I want kids to know that through Adam
Sin entered our world and into you and me
But through the blood Jesus shed on the cross
From our sin we can be set free
I want kids to know that with Abraham
God made a promise sure and grand
So that all who believe in Jesus as their Lord
Will one day live with God in His heavenly land
I want kids to know that sin brings death
Just ask Lot’s douting wife
Who turned and looked back to sinful Sodom
Rather than pressing forward to the gift of life
I want kids to know that Jacob was tricky
And for his birthright, Esau showed little care
And that their story shows we should trust in God
To work out His plans that are just and fair
I want kids to know that Joseph was like them
Often boastful and with pride he stood
But was humbled by God and learned the hard way
What some mean for evil, God means for good
I want kids to know that Moses was a man
Who often talked to God
Moses learned God’s laws and God’s ways
Even though he was just a man, sinful and flawed
I want kids to know the story
Of God parting the Red Sea
What seemed impossible to man
By God’s power, the children of Israel were set free
I want kids to know that God used Joshua
To bring down Jericho’s walls
So they know nothing is too hard for God
No! Nothing at all!
I want kids to know about David
Who took the giant Goliath down
He became the king of Israel
Chosen by God to wear a crown
I want kids to know of the prophets
God’s messengers for what is true and right
Isaiah, Jeremiah and Daniel were just a few
MIghty men who loved God with all their might
I want kids to know all about
Jesus’ 12 good friends
And how Jesus wants to have fellowship with them
With a love that will never end
I want kids to know about the miracles Jesus did
For people young and old
These were done to show God’s power
Through all generations they have been told
I want kids to know of how Jesus gave His life
To forgive them of their sin
Upon the cross He died for all
Shedding His blood to cleanse them deep within
I want kids to know that Jesus is alive today
And through His Spirit wants to live inside you and me
To be a light to all the world
So that all may see and believe
I teach kids the Bible
For all these reasons and many, many more
That they may love God’s Word and Jesus
The One whom we should all adore.

I teach the youth because I have a passion for them and a great a passion for them to learn all they can about the word of God and what the word says about them and to them.
It is God’s will for my life.
Dear Kathy,
I consider it an honor and delight to teach God’s Word to the children, because I think it is the most important thing we can give them. I find when I am teaching that I am at my happiest. Also, there are so many lessons that they teach me at the same time especially about forgiveness. Young children may get angry at times, like all of us, but they quickly forgive and forget like Our Father in Heaven. This is something we have a harder time doing at times as we adults. Plus their perspective on things can be quite unique and heartwarming. Thanks 😊, Nancy
I teach kids the Bible because I want them to love God and to grow in the knowledge of God. I teach kids also because I love God.
I teach because I have a passion for the soul of our children. Also I love seeing the children’s eyes light up when they with new ideas. And I love doing work for Lord.
Serving the Shepherd by loving His lambs.
I want children to know that Jesus loves them and died for them.
