Here are two Bible songs for Thanksgiving that you can add to your upcoming children’s church holiday celebration. The first comes from 1 Corinthians 15:57 and is called “Thanks Be to God.” The second song is based on Habakkuk 3:17-18, which proclaims that we should rejoice in the Lord at all times.
Sharing Bible songs for Thanksgiving is a great way to share the truth that God calls us to be thankful at all times. When we are thankful to God and take time to give Him praise, the Bible says that He inhabits our praises. (Psalm 22:3) That is very special!
The first song I want to share with you is a Bible verse song that I wrote many years ago for 1 Corinthians 15:57, which says, “Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Here is a sample of the moves to this song:
The second Bible song I want to share with you is based on Habakkuk 3:17-18. This portion of scripture says the following:
Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
I lovingly call this song “The Habakkuk Farmer.” The person who penned these words through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit obviously knew a thing or two about his crops and animals. Every farmer sees his land and livestock as very precious. Losing any of it can be devastating. Yet, this farmer placed God at the forefront of his life and understood that if he lost all that he counted dear, he would still choose to rejoice in the Lord.
For this song, I pretend to be a farmer, a school teacher and a child to teach the truth that we all need to put God first in our lives and be ready to rejoice in His goodness no matter our circumstances.

Thanks be to God, Thanks be to God
Thanks be to God, Thanks be to God

The victory, the victory, He gives us the victory

The Habakkuk Farmer
Do you ever feel disappointed ’cause things don’t go your way?
Do you ever start your morning wrong and wish you could call it a day?
You’re not alone. We’ve all had days that went very wrong.
But when things go right or things go wrong we can still be thankful all day long.
Take for example the farmer:
Even though my fig trees all go bad, I will rejoice in the Lord.
Even if there’s no blossoms on my fruit, I will rejoice in the Lord.
Even though my olive crops all fail, I will rejoice in the Lord.
I will rejoice, I will rejoice, I will rejoice in the Lord.
Now how about your teacher:
Even though I run out of supplies, I will rejoice in the Lord.
Even though the flu is going around, I will rejoice in the Lord.
Even though my kids might drive me crazy, I will rejoice in the Lord.
I will rejoice, I will rejoice, I will rejoice in the Lord.
Now how about you:
Even though my mom forgets my lunch, I will rejoice in the Lord.
Even though there’s nobody to play with, I will rejoice in the Lord.
Even though I get afraid of the dark, I will rejoice in the Lord.
I will rejoice, I will rejoice, I will rejoice in the Lord.
I will rejoice, I will rejoice, I will rejoice in the Lord.
