The Daughter of Jairus Bible story for kids is a great story to share about the healing power of Jesus and how He brought a little girl back to life. Read this Bible story poem to your kids to help them learn about this great miracle.
The Daughter of Jairus Bible story for kids is an amazing story that you should teach your kids so that they can learn that God is able to raise people from the dead.
The story of how Jesus raised the daughter of Jairus back from the dead is found in the book of Mark 5:21-43. It’s about a young girl of 12 years old who becomes very sick. Jairus, her father, goes to Jesus and asks Him to come see her and to place His hands on her so she would get well. But as Jesus goes back to the home of Jairus, they learn that the little girl died. Jesus is not troubled by this bad news. Instead, He tells Jairus to not be afraid, but believe. When Jesus arrives at the little girl’s home, everyone is mourning for the daughter of Jairus. But Jesus says something very surprising and even baffling. He said, “Why all this confusion? Why are you crying? The child is not dead—she is only sleeping!”
Then Jesus did something interesting. He put out of the house all those who did not believe. Then Jesus did a miracle. He spoke to the young girl and she came back to life!
I wrote a poem for this story to accompany a presentation that I wanted to do with Kid Helper’s Bible Story Sticks. If you haven’t seen the Bible Story Sticks in action yet, take a look at this video showing my presentation of David and Goliath:

Poem for the Daughter of Jairus Bible story for kids
Have you ever been sick? I’m sure you have. Maybe you….
Broke an arm while climbing a tree
Or needed crutches after cracking your knee
Maybe a cold came upon you and you sneezed and sneezed
Grabbing tissue after tissue upon your nose they squeezed
Then maybe you went to the doctor to see if he could help
But then he gives you a shot that makes you cry a “yelp!”
Being sick is never fun and that’s why we should be
Thankful for each day God gives us to run around happily
But I want to tell you a Bible story of a very sick girl
She was the daughter of Jairus. She was his precious pearl
One day, the daughter of Jairus who was only 12 years old
Grew very very sick. Sick with what – we just don’t know
But Jairus had to do something and he had to do it quick
He heard that Jesus was in town and that Jesus could heal the sick
So Jairus ran to Jesus and fell down at His feet
Among the many people crowding around on the street
“My little daughter’s very sick. Please come and make her well, I cry!
If you place your hands on her, I know that she will live, not die!”
So Jesus walked with Jairus along with 3 disciple friends
But then, oh no, a messenger came and said the little girl’s life had come to an end
But Jesus was not bothered by this terrible news
He told Jairus, “Don’t be afraid, only believe.” This story is true!
Jesus came to the house of Jairus where everyone was in dismay
All were crying tears of pain for the girl who on her deathbed lay
Then Jesus asked them, “Why are you crying? The child is not dead.
She is only sleeping!” The people thought Jesus might have gone crazy in His head.
So Jesus put the people out who did not believe His power
God wants us to have faith in Him as strong as a tower
Then Jesus went to the little girl who was lying on her bed
To the father and mother, their little girl was dead
But Jesus took the little girl’s hand and said to her, “Get up!” Oh my!
Up at once she jumped from her bed, walking around fully alive
Jesus performed this miracle showing that God can raise people from the dead
Just ask the daughter of Jairus who was brought back to life from the tip of her toe to the top of her head.
Yes, Jesus is our doctor. Jesus is our friend.
Jesus gives new life to our hearts that once were dead.

nice poem, I appreciate all that you do and share with us.
I like that your poem begins by weaving in ways the child could identify with the story. The child’s attention is captured, the Bible story is shared, and the glory is given to Jesus.
