Bible verse games are great for preschoolers too! Here is one on Revelation 21:4 called “No More Tears.”
I have heard a sweet idea that says God captures every tear we shed in a jar with our name on it. I don’t know if this is actually true, but I do know that God is extremely compassionate and does care about everything that concerns us. Tears are a reality for all of us here on earth. But for God’s children, tears will be a thing of the past in Heaven. Revelation 21:4 proves this by saying: “There will be no more death or crying or pain for the old order of things has passed away.” Our preschoolers seem to cry at the drop of a pin. Even at their young age they understand that being sad is sometimes a part of this life. Therefore, here is a fun Bible school activity to help begin teaching your little ones that Heaven will be a wonderful place without any sadness or tears. It’s called “No More Tears”.
Here’s what you do:
Bible verse games are fun and for this one you will need to prepare teardrops from poster board. On one side of 5 of them, place pictures of children crying. (You can easily find pictures like this on the Internet.) On the other side of each of these teardrops write one of the following questions:
1. Do you ever cry when you fall down and hurt yourself?
2. Do you ever cry when someone uses a loud voice?
3. Do you ever cry when you are scared?
4. Do you ever cry when you don’t get something you want?
5. Do you ever cry when someone says something mean to you?
Now prepare 5 other teardrops that have a picture of Heaven on them. On the other side of each of these teardrops write one of the following questions:
1. Will you ever cry in Heaven?
2. Will you ever be sad in Heaven?
3. Will you ever have a boo-boo in Heaven?
4. Will anyone ever make you cry in Heaven?
5. Will you ever be scared in Heaven?
I suggest you laminate these teardrops and then place them in a bucket or bag from which the children will pick. Finally, display 2 large pictures on a wall – one of an outdoor picture of earth and one of Heaven. I would also laminate these pictures. You are now ready to play this activity.
Here’s how to play:
After introducing the lesson, show your preschoolers the picture of Heaven and earth. You will then allow one child to pick a teardrop out of the bucket. Ask him the question on the back and wait for his answer. Now ask him if his teardrop should go on the picture of the earth or on the picture of Heaven. With tape or some other kind of adhesive, let the child attach the teardrop, image side out, on the correct picture.
Before playing this activity, you might want to introduce the lesson in the following way:
Raise your hand if you ever cry? (Wait for responses.) Of course you do. We all cry sometimes. Sometimes we cry when we get hurt. Sometimes we cry when we are afraid. Sometimes we cry when we hear loud noises or when we hear someone fighting. It’s OK to cry. God sees every one of your tears and He cares about you and what makes you sad. But I have really good news for you! Do you want to hear it? (Wait for responses.) The Bible says that in Heaven, there will be no more crying! Isn’t that wonderful? Our Bible verse today says, “There will be no more death or crying or pain for the old order of things has passed away.” That’s found in the book of Revelation, Chapter 21, verse 4. Today we are going to play a fun game to help us remember that even though we sometimes might cry here while living on earth, we won’t ever cry in Heaven. Let’s play!
