The Scripture Lady loves creating Bible lessons for kids! Here is one called “God’s Great Gifts” to help learn about God’s gifts.
Can you name some of the great gifts God has given us? For example, in First John 5:11 we read, “…God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” So, one of the greatest gifts God has given us is eternal life. How many other wonderful presents do your kids know about from God? Here is a fun Bible school activity to help them think more about the super things God has given them. Just follow the directions below and have some fun.
Bible lessons for kids will help your children hide God’s Word in their hearts and for this one you will need to do the following:
Below, I have provided you with a list of Scriptures that point out a gift from God. In a creative and colorful way, print pictures of gift boxes on one side of an 8.5×11 piece of paper and add the words “A Gift From God.” On the back of each paper, write one of the Scripture references. If you really want to “amp” things up, you could buy cheap gift boxes from your local “Dollar Store” and place a Scripture reference inside each one. If you played this activity at Christmas, you would be able to find lots of boxes and fun Christmas paper. (Remember, the more you put into an activity, the more your kids will get out of it.) Place the “gifts” in a pile on the floor or on a table where they can be easily grabbed. For this game, you will also need 2 Bibles. You are now ready to play.
Divide your class into 2 teams. Begin this activity by saying the following: Raise your hand if you have ever received a gift from someone? (Wait for response.) Sure! We’ve all received a gift sometime or another. Now raise your hand if you believe you’ve ever received a gift from God? (Wait for response.) Well, today I am going to prove to you through the Bible that God has given each of us many wonderful gifts and we are going to have some fun while learning about them.
Now explain that one child will come up from each team and hold a Bible. They may not open the Bible until you say, “GO!” Have another child from the class come and pick one of the gifts and give it to you, the teacher. You will reveal the Scripture reference and say, “GO!” The first child to find the verse in the Bible correctly wins 100 points for his team. Play until all the gifts have been “opened.”
Tip for success: Have a child read the verse and then have another child say what the gift is found in the Scripture. You might have to help them with discovering the gift. I have provided you with a short explanation of each.
