The Scripture Lady loves creating Bible verse games for kids! Here is one called “Call and Catch” to help learn Jeremiah 33:3.
Isn’t it amazing that God, Maker of Heaven and the Universe, desires that we call out to Him? Not only that, but when we do call to Him, He promises to show us great things we have no idea about! If you have your doubts, read Jeremiah 33:3, which says: “Call to me and I will answer you and I will tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” I think your kids will get excited about this verse especially when they play the fun Bible verse game “Call and Catch.”
Bible verse games will help your kids hide God’s Word in their hearts and for this one you will need to do the following:
Before playing the game, you will want to introduce your children to Jeremiah 33:3. Ask them if they ever would like to ask God a question, but sometimes feel like He wouldn’t answer them. Let the kids respond, then point out how this verse shows that God wants His children to ask Him anything and to call upon His name. In fact this verse promises that He will answer us and even tell us great and wondrous things – even things that are too hard for us to understand or fathom. Tell the children that they are going to memorize this important Bible verse. Say the verse together as a class several times, then tell them that they are ready to play “Call and Catch.”
For this Bible school activity game you will need a ball. A beach ball or rubber playground ball will work nicely. Have the children in your group stand in an open space. Pick one child to begin. He will throw the ball up into the air and you, the teacher, will call out the name of someone in the class. That person catches it and now it is their turn to throw the ball up in the air and you, the teacher, call out another name. This happens 3 times. The third person who catches the ball must hold the ball and on your word, “Go!”, he must say Jeremiah 33:3 from memory as fast as he can. After he is done, the calling and catching begins again.
Tips:
- I suggest that the teacher calls out the student’s names to keep things fair. However, if you have a class with good camaraderie, then you could have the kids call out the name of a person to catch the ball.
- If you’d like, you could time each child on how fast they can say the verse and keep track of it. You could then reward the top 3 reciters with something “GREAT!”
