Even our littlest learners can start understanding what it means to be a good friend. On this page, I’ve gathered my favorite songs, games, stories, and a puppet skit all about friendship — perfect for a whole season of preschool Bible time.

I’m Kathy Vincent — The Scripture Lady — and after 30+ years teaching kids the Bible, I’ve seen just how early little ones can start learning big truths, like what it means to love and forgive a friend.

Songs

🎵 Help Me Be a Friend Song

Even our littlest friends can learn what it means to be kind! “Help Me Be a Friend” is a simple, singable song — easy enough for preschoolers to catch on to right away, with a big message: loving, giving, sharing, and praying for the people around us, because God is the best friend of all.

Lyrics

Help me love others. Help me give to others. Help me serve my brothers. Help me be a friend.

Help me pray for others. Help me share with others. Help me stand up for my brothers. Help me be a friend.

Help me be a friend who loves. Help me be a friend who gives. Help me be a friend to the very end. Help me be a friend who prays. Help me be a friend who stays. Help me be a friend to the very end.

Now find a friend and say, “Hello!” Then give a high five up high then low. Now clap for God, ’cause He’s your friend. He’ll stick by you through thick and thin!

God wants even our youngest friends to learn how to love others. Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13, NKJV) — a big truth, but one even a preschooler can begin to understand.

🎵 Carmen Sings About Her Amigos

Meet “Cousin Carmen” — a video character I created to bring some Latin flavor and joy into my live programs. In this song, Carmen sings about four amigos (friends) she especially loves — a simple, sweet way to introduce the idea of treasured friendships to your class. You don’t need to create a new character — Carmen can become your cousin too!

Just like Carmen loves naming her special amigos, it’s important for little ones to think about their own friends too — and to thank God for each one. “I thank my God every time I remember you” (Philippians 1:3, NKJV).

🎵 Be Kind Song

(This is an edited version of Ephesians 4:32, perfect for young kids to become familiar with this great verse.)

This sweet, simple song comes straight from Scripture — short and repetitive, perfect for little voices to sing along right away. Preschoolers will especially love the silly “boop-boop-boop-boop-boop” ending!

Lyrics

Be kind and loving to each other

Be kind and loving to each other

Be kind and loving to each other

Ephesians 4:32

Boop-boop-boop-boop-boop

Even our youngest friends can learn to be kind, just like Jesus was kind to everyone He met. “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32, NKJV).
