Friendship is one of the most important things a child will ever learn about — how to be a good friend, how to choose good friends, and how to forgive a friend when they mess up. On this page, I’ve gathered my favorite songs, games, Bible stories, and object lessons about friendship into one place, so you have everything you need for a whole season of lessons on this topic.
I’m Kathy Vincent — The Scripture Lady — and after 30+ years teaching kids the Bible, few topics matter more to a child’s everyday life than learning what it means to be a true friend.

Songs
🎵 Help Me Be a Friend Song
One of my favorite songs to teach friendship is “Help Me Be a Friend.” It’s a simple, heartfelt reminder that being a good friend means loving, giving, serving, praying for, sharing with, and standing up for the people around us — and that God is the best friend of all, sticking with us through thick and thin.
Lyrics
Help me love others. Help me give to others. Help me serve my brothers. Help me be a friend.
Help me pray for others. Help me share with others. Help me stand up for my brothers. Help me be a friend.
Help me be a friend who loves. Help me be a friend who gives. Help me be a friend to the very end. Help me be a friend who prays. Help me be a friend who stays. Help me be a friend to the very end.
Now find a friend and say, “Hello!” Then give a high five up high then low. Now clap for God, ’cause He’s your friend. He’ll stick by you through thick and thin!

A good friend is one of God’s greatest gifts. Throughout the Bible, He shows us what true friendship looks like — through Jonathan’s loyalty to David, and through Jesus, who called His disciples friends and said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13, NKJV).
🎵 12 Friends Song
Jesus had 12 friends — His disciples — and this fun, catchy song helps kids learn all their names through simple clues about each one. Want the full lyrics, sing-along video, and printable clue cards? [Read the full post → 12 Friends: A Song That Teaches the Names of the Twelve Disciples]
Jesus didn’t just have followers — He called ordinary, imperfect people His friends. As He told His disciples, “No longer do I call you servants… but I have called you friends” (John 15:15, NKJV).
🎵 Be Kind Song
This simple, singable song is built right from Ephesians 4:32, helping even your youngest students memorize God’s Word while learning what it means to be kind.
Lyrics
Be kind and loving to each other
Be kind and loving to each other

Kindness is at the heart of true friendship. Scripture tells us, “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32, NKJV).

Kids learn best from role models they can relate to. As Proverbs 17:17 reminds us, “A friend loves at all times” (NKJV) — a lesson worth learning young.
Bible Storytelling
Story Sticks: Jesus Heals the Paralytic
Story Sticks are a fun, hands-on storytelling tool — four wooden sticks that can be shaped and moved dozens of ways to bring a Bible story to life. This one tells the story of four friends who carried a paralyzed man to Jesus, tearing open a roof just to get him there (Luke 5:18-20).

Forgiveness is at the heart of lasting friendship. As Jesus reminds us in this parable, we forgive others because God has already forgiven us: “bearing with one another, and forgiving one another… even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do” (Colossians 3:13, NKJV).
