God Made the World in 7 Days Game – Creation Storytelling Activity | The Scripture Lady

by | Jul 10, 2026 | Bible Games, Bible Storytelling, Creation, Preschool Bible Activity, The Blog

One of my favorite ways to teach the story of Creation to little ones is through this simple, colorful game. It blends gentle storytelling with a bit of playful number-finding, so your preschoolers are learning the seven days of Creation *and* practicing their counting skills at the same time. It quickly became one of my personal favorites — it’s sweet, bright, and so much fun to present.

🎬 Watch It In Action:

Bible game for kids will bring the seven days of Creation to life in a hands-on, visual way, and for this one you will need the following:

🧰 Materials

– Magnetic Bible story board (or a simple magnetic board you make yourself)
– Visuals printed on cardstock (double up two sheets for firmness, add magnets to the back — laminating optional but helpful)
– Easel to hold the board so the whole class can see
– Pocket chart with a Velcro strap to hold visual pieces below the board
– Number set 1–10 (the poem covers seven days, but extra numbers add a bit more challenge)
– Optional: PowerPoint slides or printed slides for the poem
– Black board or background — it makes the colors pop and the visuals stand out

🎲 How to Play

This activity walks your class through the seven days of Creation, one visual at a time, while reinforcing number recognition along the way.

The Seven Days:
–  Day 1: God created light
–  Day 2: God created the heavens
–  Day 3: God separated the land from the seas
–  Day 4: God made the sun, moon, and stars
–  Day 5: God made the fish and birds
–  Day 6: God made the rest of the animals — and people
–  Day 7: God rested (represented with a heart, to remind children that God calls us to rest, too)

Steps:
1. Set up the board on an easel so everyone in the class can see it.
2. Place the visuals in the pocket chart or just below the board, ready to lift out in order.
3. Present the poem (or slide) for each day as you reveal its matching visual.
4. Use the numbered magnets to count along — I show numbers one through three, then switch sides for four through seven, so children practice finding and identifying numbers as we go.
5. For extra engagement, mix up the numbers and invite the children to find the right one. It’s a quick, playful challenge that reinforces both counting and attention.

💡 Suggestions for Success

1. Prepare your visuals ahead of time — double up cardstock, laminate, and add magnets for durability.
2. Use numbers 1–10 rather than stopping at 7 if you want to add a little extra challenge for older preschoolers.
3. This magnetic format isn’t just for this activity — keep it on hand for other stories and games too!

🙏 Closing Reflection

There’s something so special about watching a room full of little ones light up as each day of Creation unfolds right in front of them. This activity is a reminder that even the youngest hearts can grasp the wonder of God’s handiwork — one day, one number, one sweet visual at a time. I hope your class enjoys it as much as mine has.

I still remember sharing this fun creation game with the preschoolers I ministered to! It’s such a joyful way to watch God’s Word come alive for the littlest learners.
