Creating Creation: The Creation Bible Story for Preschoolers

Here is a fun Bible review game for the Creation Bible story for preschoolers.

What part of God’s creative creation is your favorite?  The birds? The fish? The oceans? Truly every part of God’s amazing world is spectacular.  God must have enjoyed every moment of those six days.  Teaching your preschoolers the story of creation can be quite a delight to their listening ears.  Here is a fun activity from my games for Bible stories to help your little ones become more familiar with this wondrous time in earth’s history.  I call it “Creating Creation”.

Here’s what you do:

For this game you will need to prepare 10 pictures each of the following: birds, fish, trees, flowers, and animals.  (You can easily find images for these online under Google: images.)  I suggest you laminate these pictures for long-term use.  Next, prepare a large poster of a simple landscape that includes water and land areas.  You can add a sun, clouds, mountains, and Adam and Eve if you’d like.  Your children will place the pictures mentioned above onto the poster.  Therefore, the sizes of your pictures should fit nicely into your poster.  Hang the poster on a wall and place the pictures to the side in their categories, ie. all the birds together.  You might want to tape them to the wall and then the child can just use that piece of tape to attach the image to the poster.  Next, you will need a die with numbers 1 through 6.  Try to obtain a large sized die, which will help to better engage your little ones.   I actually made a large die from an 8” x 8” box and added colorful numbers to the sides.  Finally, create or obtain a poster that shows the 7 days of creation and what God created on each day.

Here’s how to play:

After introducing the 7 days of creation to your preschoolers, choose a child to roll the die.  Acknowledge the number he rolled and address which day of creation it coincides with.  For example, if he rolls a 3, point to the 7 Days of Creation poster and say, “On day 3, God created the land, the sea and all the plants and they were very good!”  After this, let the child pick one of the categories of pictures and then pick of them the number he rolled – ie. 3 birds.  Let him add the birds to the large creation scene.  Finish the child’s turn by saying, “Good job, Nathaniel!  God did a good job too when He created the world!”  Play in the same way so that every child has at least one turn.

Before playing this game you might want to introduce the lesson in the following way:

Who can tell me their favorite animal God created?  (Wait for responses.)  How about your favorite flower?  (Wait for responses.)  God created so many wonderful things in this world for all of us to enjoy.  (During this next part, show the 7 Days of Creation poster.)

On day one, God made light.

On day two, God made the Heavens.

On day three, God made dry land, the seas, and vegetation.

On day four, God made the sun, the moon and the stars.

On day five, God made all the living creatures in the water, and birds in the air.

On day six, God made all the land animals and Adam and Eve.

On day seven God “rested”.

Let’s play a fun game to help us learn more about God’s amazing creation as we add all the super things He made to our really big picture of earth.  Let’s play!
