Preschool Bible Lesson for Halloween: Ten Little Pumpkins

Preschool Bible lesson for Halloween: Ten Little Pumpkins! This lesson will delight your preschoolers during the October season as they learn that God cares about their feelings.

This preschool Bible lesson for Halloween: Ten Little Pumpkins is a fun poem that uses the silly faces of 10 little pumpkins to teach your little ones that God loves them no matter how they are feeling.

I have been sharing the “Ten Little Pumpkins” lesson during my preschool chapel programs during the month of October and it’s always a favorite. Of course, as Christians, we do not celebrate Halloween, but many schools and churches offer great alternatives to their communities, thus presenting great opportunities to share Jesus.

In this article, I am providing you with the poem that I use in my presentation below. Just scroll down to the bottom for the poem. If you are interested in purchasing the downloadable pictures of the pumpkins, click on the following link: Ten Little Pumpkins Lesson

In addition to sharing this pumpkin lesson, I want to share one of my favorite Bible songs that I love to sing during the month of October. It’s called “Spiders and Pumpkins and Bats, Oh My!”

Here is the video of the moves to the song:

Here are the lyrics to this fun song:

Spiders and pumpkins and bats, oh my! oh my! oh my!

Spiders and pumpkins and bats, oh my! And the Lord God made them all!

The spider crawls along the floor, up the wall, down the door

He spins a web with his legs of eight. I think God made him really great!

Spiders and pumpkins and bats, oh my! oh my! oh my!

Spiders and pumpkins and bats, oh my! And the Lord God made them all!

The pumpkin grows upon his patch. Someday I’ll make him my jack-o-lantern

I’ll carve on his face a great design, then put in a candle so he will shine

Spiders and pumpkins and bats, oh my! oh my! oh my!

Spiders and pumpkins and bats, oh my! And the Lord God made them all!

God made the bats to fly at night, though they can’t see, they’re such a sight

They swing their wings to and fro, when the sun comes up off to bed they go

Spiders and pumpkins and bats, oh my! oh my! oh my!

Spiders and pumpkins and bats, oh my! And the Lord God made them all!

(Song by Kathy Vincent, The Scripture Lady)

Here is the poem for “Ten Little Pumpkins”:

Ten little pumpkins sitting on their posts.

Each wants to shine its light the most.

The first little pumpkin on the outside looks sad.

But he knows when Jesus lives inside, he’s oh so glad.

The second little pumpkin is winking at you.

He hopes that Jesus lives inside of you too.

The third little pumpkin got mad and sinned.

But he told God he’s sorry and God still loves him.

The fourth little pumpkin is tired indeed.

So he reads God’s Word to get the strength he needs.

The fifth little pumpkin had a contented face.

‘Cause he knew God would put him in the right place.

The sixth little pumpkin was mighty surprised.

When he learned that Jesus loved him and for him he died.

The seventh little pumpkin had a smirk and smile.

He liked the face God gave him. It gave him lots of style.

The eighth little pumpkin was confused. It’s true.

Why wouldn’t all his friends love Jesus? Do you?

The ninth little pumpkin was afraid and scared.

But then he remembered how much God cared.

The tenth little pumpkin was filled with joy.

And hopes you’ll also shine for God whether you’re a pumpkin, girl or boy.
