Memory verse games for preschoolers are super! Here is one called “God’s Word Has Rhythm.”
I don’t know about you, but I love coming up with Bible memory verse games for preschoolers and putting Bible verses for them to music. Sometimes I like putting a Scripture to a catchy rhythm. I think Psalm 33:4 lends itself nicely to a good strong drumbeat. In fact, when I read this verse I pictured my little ones “drumming” on their knees with their hands while putting this verse to memory. Here is the rhythmic verse I came up with:
For the word of the Lord is right and true
He is faithful in all He does
Pa rum pum pum
Pa rum pum pum
Pa rum pum pum pum pum
Psalm thirty-three verse four
(The words that are underlined are those words you emphasize.)
So now that you have a catchy beat, here are 2 super fun activities to help your preschoolers learn the truth that God’s Word is indeed “right and true.”
Scripture Activity #1: You’ve Got Rhythm
Memory verse games for preschoolers are fun and for this one you need the above Bible verse of Psalm 33:4 and your body. Teach your little ones the Bible verse and have them clap along to the beat. Once they feel comfortable with this come up with other fun body rhythms to do during the “pa rum pum pum” sections. For example, lead the children in clapping their hands once then slapping their knee alternating the two movements. Here are some other ideas:
- Clap your hands then pat your head.
- March around in a circle while swinging your arms back and forth.
- Jump 2 times then wiggle your body 2 times.
- Bend your knees then rise up on your tippy toes.
There are lots of possibilities. See if your little ones can think of some as well.
Scripture Activity #2: Match the Bible
For this activity you will need to prepare duplicate pictures of matching Bibles. (By the way, if you need good pictures, you can always Google: images and then type in “Bible.” It will provide you with many great choices.) Make sure you prepare a different Bible for each child. Laminate the pictures for long-term use. Place them on the floor in a circle big enough for your class to walk around. Teach the Bible verse above to the beat given. When the verse is done, say, “Stop!” Have each child pick up the Bible they are closest to. You, the teacher, will hold up one of the Bibles. Whoever is holding that particular Bible now sits in the center of the circle and claps to the beat of the verse on the next round. Play until all the children are sitting in the circle.
An extra idea: You could have a Scripture written on each Bible from Psalm 119 and read the verse on the chosen Bible before playing the next round. The more your children hear God’s Word, the better.

Hey scripture lady. I like that rhythm thing–I do similar stuff with my guitar and rhythm instruments. You missed a good opportunity for a rhyme how-ever. Instead of does–use DO and you got a rhyme–may not be proper English–but that never bothered Hank Williams Sr. (who by-the-way wrote many, many Gospel songs.)
Using DO instead of Does may be a teach-able moment–and could add to the joy (Bible word for fun) of the activity.
