Find the Love – A Fun Scripture Game Showcasing Bible Verses About Love

God’s Word is filled with Bible verses about love. Here is a fun game I call “Find the Love” that will introduce your kids to many of these great scriptures. “Find the Love” only takes a little bit of preparation and I can almost guarantee your kids will want to play it again and again.

Do your kids know any Bible verses about love? Of course, many of us know one of the greatest scriptures about love, which is John 3:16.

But the Bible is full of other verses that showcase God’s amazing love for each one of us. “Find the Love” will give your kids the opportunity to bask in God’s love for them AND have fun while doing it.

Here’s how to prepare “Find the Love”:

For this game you will need to gather 3 colorful boxes with lids. If you don’t have any on hand, you might try your local dollar store. Take the time to find boxes that exude fun. Remember “FUN” is the language of kids.

Next make 2 paper hearts that will easily fit inside any one of the boxes. Two hearts will go inside one of each of the boxes and the third box will be empty. The hearts should be totally hidden by placing the lids on the boxes. Let a child hide the hearts in two of the boxes while the “contestant” is out of the room.

Finally, place the boxes on a table for all your kids to see.

Here’s how to play “Find the Love”:

Divide your kids into two groups. Have the first “contestant” leave the room while you have another child hide the heart in one of the boxes.

Take the list of Bible verses about love below. You will notice that I have placed the verses in groups of three.

You will ask the first contestant to come back into the room. You will read the first scripture about love and then ask the child which reference the Bible verse comes from by choosing between the 2 choices I have provided.

For example, let’s say you read this verse:

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

After reading the verse, you will ask: “Is this verse found in Romans 8:28 or John 15:13?”

The child will have to give their guess. If they guess John 15:13, they guessed correctly. They have now earned the right to pick one of the 3 boxes that they think holds the heart of love inside. The child does not get to take off the lid of the box yet. He has only secured that box as an option to look in.

Read two more Bible verses about love to the same child. For each reference that he guesses correctly, he gets to pick another box.

If he guessed correctly all 3 times, he now has 3 boxes to choose from and from which to find a heart of love.

If he only guessed correctly 2 times, he now has only 2 boxes.

If he only guessed correctly 1 time, he now has only 1 box.

If he missed all his guesses, he loses the chance to look in any of the boxes.

Once all the 3 Bible verses about love have been read. The child now gets to choose from the boxes he has secured. He can only choose one to look inside. If he opens a box with a heart of love inside, he gets 1,000 points for his team.
