Preschoolers love rhyming words, which is why nursery rhymes and Mother Goose stories are so popular. Creating fun, Bible-based poetry for young children is one of my favorite ways to teach God’s Word. What is a Pocket Chart?
If you’re unfamiliar, a pocket chart is usually made of durable nylon with multiple long plastic pockets designed to hold cards of

various sizes. I recommend mounting it on a sturdy board to ensure stability and longevity. These long-lasting charts are versatile tools that I’ve used for years to make learning fun and interactive.

How I Use Pocket Poems with Children:
After writing engaging poetry for preschoolers, I search for vibrant graphics to complement each poem. I print and laminate these images for durability. During the lesson, I gather the children, read the poem aloud, and display the matching pictures on the pocket chart. This visual approach captures children’s attention and helps them connect with the Bible message.
