A colorful game titled 'Flip and Find The Lord's Prayer' for preschoolers.

“Flip and Find the Lord’s Prayer” is a fun, hands-on way to introduce your littlest ones to prayer. I often play this game during my “Let’s Pray” program, and I’m excited to make it fully free for your classroom or home.

This Bible game will help your preschoolers understand the different parts of the Lord’s Prayer, and for this one you will need the following:

  • 6 matching picture cards representing the 6 sections of the Lord’s Prayer
  • 6 “surprise” picture cards (a picture of Jesus with the children, cut into 6 matching pieces)
  • 6 presentation slide pictures, for use in a slideshow or printed and held up
  • A pocket chart, sized to hold the 8.5″ x 11″ pictures
  • Card stock and laminate (optional, for long-term use)

Watch the presentation:

    • How to build it:

Attach the front of each Lord’s Prayer picture to the back of a surprise picture piece — but don’t attach them in matching order. (The instructional video below shows exactly how I’ve paired mine.) Once assembled, laminate your pictures for long-term use, then load the 6 matching pictures into a pocket chart, displayed at a height your preschoolers can easily reach.

      Watch how to build it:

    How to play:

Present “The Lord’s Prayer” using the 6 slide pictures — either as a slideshow or held up one at a time. Then invite a child forward to find the matching picture on the pocket chart and flip it over to reveal the surprise picture underneath. Use each picture to review that section of the prayer. Finally, help your preschooler connect it to their own life — for example: “God gives us our daily bread. That means He gives us everything we need. Can you think of something you can ask God for that you need?”

    Suggestions for Success:

    1. Laminate your pictures so they hold up to repeated use.
    2. Display the pocket chart on an easel, at preschooler eye level.
    3. Keep the front-and-back picture pairs mismatched on purpose — that’s what makes the “flip” a surprise.

I love how simple this game is for even the littlest ones — the “surprise” flip keeps them engaged, and it opens up such sweet conversations about what each part of the prayer means.
