Scripture Lady’s Bible Review Games: The 3 – 2 – 1 Game – Teaching About Accepting Jesus as Your Savior

The Scripture Lady loves creating Bible review games! Here is one called “The 3 – 2 – 1 Game” to teach children how to accept Jesus as their Savior.

Choosing to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the most important decision any of us will ever make.  Many of our elementary aged kids are ready to make this choice.  Here is a fun Bible activity for kids that I hope will help many children make an educated decision to choose Jesus.

Bible review games will help your children learn God’s Word in a fun way and for this one you will need to do the following:

For this game, you will need 12 – 6″ x 9″ manila envelopes.  You will prepare 12 Scripture Cards as found below and 12 corresponding “Quiz” cards. I suggest you prepare these cards on colorful card stock. Attach each Scripture card onto the fronts of the envelopes and each corresponding “Quiz” card on the backs of the envelopes.  You will also need to prepare 12 “Label” cards that will go inside each envelope. You will find the wording for the labels below as well.

Set Up:  For this game, I use 2 pocket charts (approx. 28″ square). (You can find pocket charts at your local teacher supply store or online at www.orientaltrading.com)  Place all 12 envelopes on a pocket chart.  Click here to see a picture showing how I set up my game.  On another board or pocket chart, create 3 crosses and attach them.  I simply used old paper grocery bags and taped them to my pocket chart.  Finally, you may want to make “Title” cards and place them at the top of the pocket chart with the crosses.

How to Play:  Divide your children into 2 teams and pick a child to be the scorekeeper.  Tell the children the following:  Choosing to make Jesus your Lord and Savior is the most important decision they will ever make.  Important decisions often require a lot of thought.  Sometimes you need to weigh the good and bad of a situation.  And you always need to find out the truth!  Today we are going to play a game that will hopefully help you make the decision to choose Jesus.

When Jesus died on the cross, there were two other men who died next to him. (Point to the 3 crosses.) Many of you know the story that one chose to believe in Jesus and the other chose not to believe in Jesus.  Every one of us sitting in this room today, has the same choice.  Our game today is going to teach you who Jesus said He was and you are also going to learn who man is.  Our middle cross represents the cross of Jesus and the other two crosses represent mankind. After we have discovered who Jesus is and who man is, I am going to present you with the opportunity to make your own choice.

Here is how to play the game:  A team member will pick any envelope off the board.  I will read the Scripture and then the explanation.  I will then ask you a multiple choice question.  If you get it right, you will find out how many points you have earned for your team by taking a label out of the envelope.  You can earn either 300, 200 or 100 points.  You will then place the label on the cross of Jesus or on one of the other crosses that represent mankind.  The team with the most points at the end of the game will win.  Here we go!

After playing the game, I encourage you to give an invitation to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  You can download the script that I use for large groups by clicking on “A Script for the Invitation to Accept Jesus as Lord and Savior”.

Multiple Choice Quiz Cards

Card A:

This verse shows that Jesus is indeed God.  Only God can be the first and last and be the beginning and the end.  In fact, in John 17:5  Jesus says that he existed even before the world began.  Only God Himself can make such an amazing claim.

Here is your quiz:

Jesus claims to be:

A) just a really good man.

B) God.

C) Sponge Bob.

Card B:

This verse shows that Jesus predicted or knew beforhand that He would have to suffer and die, but then be raised back to life.  We know that someday we will die also, but none of us knows how or when.

Here is your quiz:

Jesus predicted that He would:

A) become the next president of the United States.

B) not have to die on a cross.

C) be killed, but then raised back to life.

Card C:

This verse says that if we believe in Jesus Christ we will have eternal life with Him.  It’s also important to understand that if we choose not to believe in Jesus, we will perish or die eternally in our sin.

Here is your quiz:

John 3:16 says that if we believe in Jesus Christ we will:

A) have eternal life.

B) perish eternally in our sin.

C) have all the rocky road ice cream we want.

Card D:

This is a powerful verse that reveals who Jesus is in four important ways: 1. He is the firstborn from the dead which means He was the first to die and then be raised back to life to live eternally from that point on, 2. He is the ruler of the kings of the earth, 3. He loves us and 4. He has freed us from our sins when He shed His blood on the cross.

Here is your quiz:

Because Jesus shed His blood:

A) I am free from all temptation.

B) I can be freed from my sins when I believe in Him.

C) He should wear a Band-Aid.

Card E:

The word resurrection means “to come back to life”.  After Jesus died on the cross, He was resurrected 3 days later.  Jesus now lives in Heaven and is at the right hand of God and everyone is in submission to Him.  This gives Jesus all authority.  John 5:27 says that Jesus even has the authority to judge.  But judge what or who?  Jesus will judge every person on the face of the earth for how they have lived.

Here is your quiz:

Jesus has the authority to:

A) not obey the Word of God.

B) change the speed limits on the freeways.

C) judge me and all that I do.

Card F:

In this verse, Paul is talking to the Philippians.  He is reminding those who believe in Jesus that Heaven is their true home.  Jesus saved them from the power of sin which is eternal death and will someday change their earthly bodies into glorious bodies fit for eternal life in Heaven.

Here is your quiz:

If you believe in Jesus and the death He died on the cross:

A) Jesus will be your Savior as long as you are always good.

B) Jesus will end up failing you in the end of your life.

C) Jesus will save you from the power of sin which is eternal death.

Card G:

Raise your hand if you’ve ever done something good.  Great!  Sure, we’ve all done some good things now and then.  But did you know that compared to God’s amazing goodness, the good things we do are like filthy rags? There’s a lot of people in this world who think that being good will earn them eternal life.  Yet the Bible says in Psalm 55:3 that compared to God, “there is no one who does good, not even one.”

Here is your quiz:

From this verse, we learn that the good works or things that people do:

A) are like filthy rags compared to God’s goodness.

B) will give them eternal life.

C) should be awarded and praised.

Card H:

These verses say that man is sinful.  But what is sin anyway?  Here is a good definition to remember:  Sin is anything I think, anything I say or anything I do that displeases God.

Here is your quiz:

Sin:

A) is not that big of a deal.

B) is anything I think, anything I say or anything I do that displeases God.

C) is only what I think is wrong.

Card I:

These 2 verses show that man is not just flesh and blood, but that we have a spirit inside of us.  This spirit is our true identity – who we really are.  When we die someday, our bodies will return to the earth, but our spirits will return to God.  It is at this point that we will be judged by God to learn of where our spirits will live eternally.

Here is your quiz:

Man:

A) only has a body that will die someday.

B) can choose where he wants his spirit to live after he dies.

C) is not just made of flesh and blood, but is also a spiritual being.

Card J:

It’s very important to understand that whether or not you believe in God, God loves you very much.  He loves you so much that He was willing to let His one and only Son die for your sins.  When you do something wrong, you deserve the punishment.  But because God’s love is so strong for you, He let His Son Jesus suffer the punishment you deserved.

Here is your quiz:

God loves:

A) only people who are good.

B) only people who love Him.

C) all people.

Card K:

Some people live very long lives.  But I bet if you could talk to someone who has lived a hundred or more years, they would still say that their lives have gone by very fast. God has made our lives short and it is His desire that you would choose to accept His Son as your Savior this very day.  Only God knows when our earthly lives will come to an end.  I pray you are willing to trust Him with your eternity.

Here is your quiz:

God:

A) has given us lives that are short.

B) does not care where you spend eternity.

C) says that if you eat 5 gummy bears a day, you will live forever.

Card L:

Do you ever feel strong and powerful?  Like you could conquer the world?  Those feelings are great!  But if you were honest, you would have to say that compared to God you are not powerful at all.  Can you create something from nothing?  Can you command the wind and rain to do your bidding?  The answer is “No”. Man is also powerless when it comes to getting rid of his sin.  Only God can take away your sins.  I hope you will trust Him to do so.

Here is your quiz:

God:

A) is only powerful on Sundays.

B) expects you to take away your own sin.

C) is the only One powerful enough to take away your sin.
