Spiders and Pumpkins and Bats, Oh My! Preschool Chapel

October is here! But don’t let Halloween’s scary tricks spoil the truths of God and His Word. Invite Kathy Vincent, The Scripture Lady, to share her sweet preschool chapel called “Spiders and Pumpkins and Bats, Oh My!”

“Spiders and Pumpkins and Bats, Oh My!” will delight your children as they learn some important truths about God from spiders, pumpkins and bats. This creative preschool chapel will take these common Halloween icons and turn them around to teach your little ones about Jesus, the Creator of them all.

Opening Song: “Spiders and Pumpkins and Bats, Oh My!” This is one of my favorite holiday songs that I have written over the years. I love sharing it with preschoolers to remind them that God is the one who made all three of these great creatures.

A Visit from Carmen: Carmen is one of The Scripture Lady’s favorite characters that she interacts with during her Bible programs. In this visit, Carmen shares with the kids that she loves bats. Since she lives in Mexico, Carmen sees lots of bats where she lives flying around at night. The bats remind her of Job 37:14, which says: “Stop and consider God’s wonders.” Carmen breaks into a fun song that showcases this great Bible verse.

A Song About Playing Dress Up: “BIble Friend Dress Up” – October 31st is all about wearing great costumes. Did you know that the Bible is full of some great people who wore very interesting garments? For example, Joseph wore a coat of many colors. The High Priest of God’s temple wore a special robe with the ephod around his neck. King David wore his kingly robe. John the Baptist wore a tunic made of camel’s hair. (Can someone say, “Itchy?”) And Peter wore his fisherman’s coat. Here is a new song fresh out of the recording studio to help your little ones learn about some of the great people in the Bible and the interesting attire they wore.

The Spider Story: This is a wonderful story all about how God used a little bitty spider to help protect a soldier during war time! The children will learn that God loves to use small things to confound the prideful enemies of our lives.

The Jack-O-Lantern Song: “Oh, Jack-O-Lantern” is a very fun song from Child Evangelism Fellowship. It is one of my favorites to sing during this season and your children will love it too. They will learn that God wants them to be lights for Jesus in this dark world.

The Ten Little Pumpkins: Here is a really sweet poem all about ten little pumpkins and the different feelings each of them is experiencing. Here’s a little taste of this poem:

Ten little pumpkins sitting on their posts.

Each wants to shine its light the most.

The first little pumpkin on the outside looks sad.

But he knows when Jesus lives inside, he’s oh so glad.

Scruffy Learns to be a Light for Jesus: A Scripture Lady chapel time would not be complete without a visit from her dog, Scruffy. During this visit, Scruffy is excited to share Jesus going door to door when he is out looking for treats.

Closing Song: “This Little Light of Mine” – Finally, to end  this fun program, all the children are invited to sing along to one of the greatest children’s ministry classics of all time and will be reminded to shine their lives like lights for Jesus.
