Bible Verse Games for Preschoolers for Psalm 66:2: God’s Glorious Name

Bible verse games are great for preschoolers too! Here is one for Psalm 66:2 called “God’s Glorious Name.”

Psalm 66: 2 says, “Sing to the glory of (God’s) name.”  How important it is, especially these days that we make sure our preschoolers know how precious God’s name truly is.  All too soon, they will unfortunately be bombarded by a world that neither knows God nor praises His name.  Here is a fun activity that will help your little ones sing praises to God’s amazing name.

Here’s what you do:

Bible verse games are fun and for this one you will need to cover a table with butcher paper.  In big letters write GOD several times.  It would be best to make the letters colorful and fancy to show the “glory” of God’s name.  Next, prepare index cards with either the letters G, O, or D on them.  Make enough to cover each letter written on butcher paper.  Place all the letter cards in a bag or bucket.  You are now ready to play the game.

Read Psalm 66: 2 to your little ones.  Tell the children that God’s name is VERY special.  We should always be careful when speaking His name.  In fact, Psalm 66:2 says that we should “sing to the glory of His name.”  This means we can sing about how special God’s name really is.  Point to the table and show the children how God’s name is written all over.  Encourage the children to spell God’s name several times.  Now show your class the bag of letters.  Let one child pull out a letter and cover up one of the same letters on the table.   Once a whole spelling of God’s name is covered up have the children march around the table while singing and clapping to this little phrase to the tune of “The Farmer and the Dell”:

God’s name is great!
God’s name is great!
I will sing and praise His name.
God’s name is great!
After singing the song, go back to letting a child pick out a letter from the bag and follow the same steps for the game.  Praise His name!
