Scripture Lady’s Bible Review Games: 12 Clues – Teaching Who’s Who in the Bible

The Scripture Lady loves creating Bible review games! Here is one called “12 Clues” to teach who’s who in the Bible.

The Bible is filled with amazing people.  Elijah, Joseph, Peter, Paul…the list is long and worth knowing.  It’s important that our kids know about all the people in the Bible as well.

Here’s a fun Bible activity for kids to enjoy that will get them guessing about specific people in the Bible.  Just follow the directions and have fun!

Watch this video for an explanation of how to play “12 Clues”

Bible review games will help your children learn God’s Word in a fun way and for this one you will need to do the following:

Write the following 12 clues onto index cards or colorful poster board.  You might want to laminate them for long-term use.

1. Is the Bible character a man, woman, girl or boy?
2. Is (he) in the Old Testament or the New Testament?
3. Tell me at least one thing about his family.
4. Tell me 2 good things about this person.
5. Tell me 2 not so good things about this person.
6. Tell me how (his) story should draw me closer to God.
7. Tell me one important object used by this person.
8. Tell me the name of at least one other person who knew (him).
9. Did any miracles take place around this person and if so, describe one.
10. Tell me at least one emotion this person would have strongly felt.
11. Give me at least one detail about where (he) is from.
12. Give me at least one detail about (his) job.

Now number each card, on the back, 1 through 12.  Display the cards on a table or pocket chart, number side showing.  Finally, decide upon a Bible character that you and your children have studied in the past.  This is the person the children will try to guess.  You are now ready to play the game.

This game can be played between 2 teams or you can just simply play it until one child in the class guesses the Bible character.  In either case, have a child pick a number card.  Read the clue on the card.  You, the teacher, must then respond to the clue that was given.  The child then has 10 to 30 seconds to make a guess as to the Bible character.  Have the children continue to pick the clue cards until a child or team makes a correct guess.  Enjoy!

  • Hi: I like this idea as it involves critical thinking skills. This would be good especially in talking about Jesus.

  • I really liked this idea – mainly because not only is it a great way of revising the lesson but also it is so adaptable! Thanks so much.

  • I like this game. I wonder if it could also be used this way: have each student choose a Bible person, then write down the answers to the clues and let classmates guess which Bible character he is talking about.
